What is a Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency?
Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agencies (FJAAs) make hiring apprentices easier by employing them directly and placing them with host employers – such as schools – for the duration of their apprenticeship. As government-registered agencies, FJAAs provide a flexible alternative to directly employing an apprentice. The Apprentice Employment Agency (AEA), part of The Nicholas Associates Group, is one of only 14 FJAAs with national coverage.

Do I need to work with an FJAA?
Many schools choose to work with an FJAA for a variety of reasons. Local authority schools (such as Community or Voluntary Controlled schools) may prefer not to use their council’s apprenticeship provider, while Voluntary Aided schools may struggle to access apprenticeship levy funding.

What employment checks are completed by the FJAA?
The Flexi-Job Apprenticeship Agency (FJAA) verifies an apprentice’s right to work in the UK. If schools require additional checks, including those related to safer recruitment, they will need to complete these as the host employer.
