Our apprenticeship training is structured around real school life – blending workplace learning with online study and regular in-person support from our expert team.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Ideal for: Classroom support staff in primary, secondary, or SEN settings
Duration: Typically 15–18 months
Entry requirements: GCSEs in English and Maths (or Functional Skills can be achieved during the programme)

This apprenticeship equips support staff with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing. Apprentices work alongside teachers to provide tailored support to individuals and groups, helping every child reach their potential.

Key topics include:

  • Understanding the curriculum and how to support learning
  • Child development and supporting individual needs
  • Behaviour management strategies and inclusive practice
  • Safeguarding, health, and safety in a school setting
  • Promoting literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Working effectively with teachers and colleagues

Outcome: Upon completion of this programme, learners will receive a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and have the opportunity to progress onto our Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship.

Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant (SEND)

In many schools, Teaching Assistants take on focused responsibilities – from working with pupils who have SEND to managing behaviour interventions or supporting subject-specific learning.

This apprenticeship supports you to work as:

  • SEND Teaching Assistants – supporting pupils with additional learning needs, EHCPs, or neurodiversity
  • Behaviour Support Assistants – working with children who need additional emotional and behavioural support
  • Subject-Focused TAs – supporting curriculum areas such as English, Maths, Science, or PE
  • One-to-One Support Roles – working closely with a single child or small group

Outcome: Upon completion of this apprenticeship, learners will receive a Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant qualification and could progress onto education degree routes.
