Everything you need to know about an LGV Driver Apprenticeship

SP Training has a long history of developing new and innovative, industry-leading, award-winning training solutions, and given the recent driver shortage crisis, wanted to outline our apprenticeship offering with national partners, and what the LGV Driver apprenticeship entails. 

We have an abundance of opportunities available through our national apprenticeship Driver Programme, where we partner with some of the UK’s largest haulage and Logistics companies to deliver LGV/HGV Driver Apprenticeships.

How long does the apprenticeship route take?

The LGV Apprenticeship programme is a 13 month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving as well as gaining their Category C and C+E Licenses.

What ages can apply or is it open to everyone?

All ages are permitted to apply for apprenticeships with our national partners, but they must hold certain qualifications. If applicants don’t hold these qualifications, as their apprenticeship provider, we can support them with maths & english functional Skills Training.

What kind of roles are available upon completion? 

It’s likely that you’ll stay with the mpOnce qualified, roles and employers can vary. Qualified apprentices working for our national partners such as Co-Op, Hermes, Clipper, XPO and Farmfoods, will go on to become confident and professional HGV/ LGV Driver within the relevant sector ie food delivery, and transportation. 

Location or are they nationwide?

The roles we are recruiting for and promoting are nationwide, as we manage driver training and apprenticeships for a variety of national clients all over the UK.  Do you need specific qualifications?

 For the apprenticeship, learners need to achieve a minimum Level 1 Math’s & English, which is equivalent to grade D/3 GCSE.
