System People Education are the fastest growing education recruitment and teaching supply agency who have been finding work for local Teachers and TA’s since June 2012. We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

About the role
We are seeking a caring and patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil in a part-time role, working Tuesday to Friday afternoons, starting after half term and continuing until the end of the summer term. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to a child’s learning, confidence, and wellbeing during an important stage of their development.
In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored, consistent support that helps the pupil access learning and feel secure and supported in the classroom. You’ll build a positive, trusting relationship and contribute to a calm, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil during afternoon sessions

Support the pupil with learning activities, following guidance from the class teacher

Help the pupil remain focused, engaged, and confident in the classroom

Support social, emotional, and behavioural development

Work closely with the class teacher and SEN support staff to implement strategies

Observe and share feedback on progress and wellbeing

Encourage positive behaviour and independence

Uphold safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in KS1
A caring, patient, and supportive approach
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow support plans and adapt strategies as needed
Understanding of inclusive practice and child development
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification and SEN experience
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children
