System People Education are the fastest growing education recruitment and teaching supply agency who have been finding work for local Teachers and TA’s since June 2012. We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

We help hundreds of Education professionals in Cumbria find suitable work in many schools which includes day to day and long-term opportunities and we are always looking for new candidates to join our register to meet the ever-growing need for high quality supply cover.

About the role

We are pleased to be seeking an organised and approachable School Administrator (Maternity Cover) to join a small, friendly village primary school. This is a Monday to Friday position, working 8.00am to 1.00pm, starting in June and continuing until March 2027.

As the first point of contact for many visitors, parents and pupils, our administrator plays a key role in the daily life of the school. We are looking for someone who can provide an efficient and professional administrative service while contributing positively to our caring and welcoming school community.

Working closely with the Headteacher and wider staff team, you will help ensure the smooth running of the school office and provide essential support to pupils, families and colleagues. This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys being at the heart of a busy school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for parents, visitors and telephone enquiries

  • Manage pupil attendance records and maintain accurate school data

  • Provide general administrative support including correspondence, filing and record keeping

  • Support the organisation of school events, trips and communications

  • Process orders, invoices and basic financial administration

  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR requirements

  • Support safeguarding administration, including maintaining the Single Central Record

  • Liaise with staff, governors and external agencies as required

  • Contribute to the smooth and professional running of the school office

Entry Requirements

Previous administrative experience (school-based experience desirable)

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (experience with school systems desirable)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage workload effectively in a busy environment

A professional, calm and welcoming manner

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
