About Abacus Children's Day Nursery
Abacus Children’s Day Nursery is situated one mile from the centre of Dalston village and opened in November 2015. We provide care for children from age 3 months to 5 years.
At Abacus, every child counts. About the role
Abacus Children’s Day Nursery, a well-established childcare setting in Carlisle, is looking for a dedicated Early Years apprentice to join their friendly and experienced team. If you’re passionate about supporting the development of young children aged 3 months to 5 years, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a genuine enthusiasm for working with young children, and a strong commitment to teamwork and professional development.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, play-based activities that support each child's development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Support children with daily routines, including nappy changing, feeding, toileting, and dressing, while helping maintain the nursery’s excellent hygiene standards.

Build strong relationships with children and their families, ensuring open communication to meet each child’s individual needs.

Help maintain a safe, stimulating environment by ensuring all indoor and outdoor equipment is age-appropriate, well-maintained, and clean.

Work collaboratively with the team to create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for all children.
Your future career with us
Upon successful completion, there may be opportunities to progress into a permanent Early Years Educator role within the nursery.
Training & Development
This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of around 14-17 months. You will attend live online tutor led sessions 2 days every month and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme.
Entry Requirements
You may need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this programme, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the programme.
