About the role
We have a brand new vacancy available for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice in our Special Educational Needs Department. If you have bundles of energy, a passion for supporting young people with additional learning, developmental or physical needs this will be perfect for you!
This is an excellent opportunity to learn the importance of meeting individual pupil needs whilst being supported by our amazing team. You will need to have excellent communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work, be keen to learn from others around you and confidence to be part of the school as a whole.
It is essential that you have a good level of maths and English, minimum of 4/C grades.

The Whitehaven Academy has an excellent history in training and employing those who successfully complete their Level 3 TA apprenticeship. There may also be an opportunity for you to go onto our Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship
Training & Development
This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via Zoom) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. System People have fantastic pass rates and won the “BEST Training Provider Award” at the Golden Apples in 2019 and have been awarded a “Good” rating by Ofsted 2021.
Entry Requirements
You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this programme, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the programme.
