About the role
We have a brand new vacancy available for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice in our Special Educational Needs Department from September 2026. If you have bundles of energy, a passion for supporting young people with additional learning, developmental or physical needs this will be perfect for you!
This is an excellent opportunity to learn the importance of meeting individual pupil needs whilst being supported by our amazing team. You will need to have excellent communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work, be keen to learn from others around you and confidence to be part of the school as a whole.
It is essential that you have a good level of maths and English, minimum of 4/C grades.

Ullswater Community College has an excellent history in training and then employing those who successfully complete their Level 3 TA apprenticeship.
Training & Development
This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of 17 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via Zoom) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme.
Entry Requirements
You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
