About the role

Bid Writer and Business Development Associate, Full Time and Part Time considered

£35,000 per annum

As part of our ongoing expansion plans, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Bid Writer and Business Development Associate to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in securing new business opportunities and supporting our continued expansion within the apprenticeship and wider skills sector.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, shaping, and delivering high-quality, compliant, and compelling bids and proposals. You will also develop and maintain strategic relationships with key funding partners.

This role can be either office based or hybrid (at least 3 days in office). Our offices are located at English Gate Plaza, Botchergate and Carlisle Airport Business Park.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret the strategic direction of government policy, particularly in relation to apprenticeships, skills funding, and workforce development

  • Identify, research, and evaluate tender opportunities across public and private sectors

  • Assess bid viability and lead go/no-go decision processes

  • Develop and implement a strategic bid writing plan aligned with organisational growth objectives

  • Produce high-quality, persuasive, and compliant bid submissions within tight deadlines

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information, evidence, and case studies

  • Liaise with councils and other local and national funding bodies to identify opportunities, build relationships, and support successful bid development

  • Maintain and update a bid library, ensuring continuous improvement of content and processes

  • Track and analyse bid outcomes to inform future strategy and improve success rates

Entry Requirements

Is this job right for me?

We are looking for someone with proven experience in bid writing, ideally within the education, logistics, training, or apprenticeships sector. You will have a strong understanding of government policy and funding landscapes relevant to skills and apprenticeships.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling proposals
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
  • Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience working with DFE/DWP-funded provision or similar funding bodies
  • Knowledge of procurement portals and tendering processes
  • Previous experience in an independent training provider or further education setting
  • Experience of applying AI to workflow processes
