Beckermet Nursery have been established since 1976, are registered with OFSTED to provide nursery educare and members of the pre-school learning alliance. Our nursery aims to provide a safe and stimulating environment in which children feel happy and secure. We encourage the emotional, social, physical, creative and intellectual development of the children and encourage positive attitudes to self and others and develop confidence and self-esteem. We pride ourselves on creating opportunities for play both indoors and outdoors which encourage children to explore the world. We have a highly committed nursery team comprising of Manager together with several fully qualified and experienced nursery nurses who are responsible for the welfare of the children during each session. The nursery team work together to plan activities for our children and to make observations on a regular basis.

About the role
Beckermet Nursery is looking for someone to join their team as an Early Years Apprentice, at either Level 2 or Level 3 from September. In this role, you’ll work alongside Nursery Assistants to help create a safe, happy and engaging environment where children can learn through a range of creative and stimulating activities.
As part of the apprenticeship, you’ll support with day-to-day care in the nursery, including working with children during playtime, outdoor activities and lunchtimes.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise arrivals and departures at beginning and end of sessions

Support the Nursery Assistants in providing high quality care and activities for the children and recognise both individual and group requirements in a secure, safe and stimulating environment

Be familiar with key policies and procedures

Support children in serving own food, snacks, drinks and encourage good nutrition and social eating

Carry out any general housekeeping tasks as required: including preparing equipment, snacks and drinks for snack time or lunchtime, getting out or putting away play items or general tidying and cleaning

Promote at all times good relations between staff members, parents and children and promote equality and welcoming ethos of the nursery.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there may be the opportunity to progress onto a higher level qualification or become part of the team on a permanent basis.
Training & Development
This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 14 – 17 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via ZOOM) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme.
Entry Requirements
You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this programme. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
