About the role

Are you looking to start or progress a rewarding career working with children in Early Years?
Frizington Primary School is offering an apprenticeship for a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to join their team. This is an ideal opportunity to start your career as a L2 Early Years Practitioner.

You would be working in their Reception class, where the focus is on providing a welcoming, fun, nurturing environment where children can learn, play and develop through a wide range of engaging activities and experiences. Offering a variety of opportunities for children to explore, discover and develop their communication, social and emotional skills through play and hands-on learning.

As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced practitioners while studying towards your L2 Early Years qualification, gaining valuable knowledge and practical experience in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children's learning and development through play and planned activities

  • Helping to create a safe, caring and stimulating environment

  • Building positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues

  • Supporting children during mealtimes, outdoor play and daily routines

  • Encouraging children's communication, confidence and independence

  • Assisting with observations and learning records

  • Helping to prepare activities and learning resources

  • Following safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies at all times

  • Supporting children with personal care routines where required

  • Working as part of the school team to provide high-quality care and education

This apprenticeship will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to begin or develop a career in Early Years education.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to progress into a permanent role with school. You may also have the chance to continue your professional development through further Early Years qualifications and training.

Training & Development

This Level 2 apprenticeship is expected to last 15 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will be via ZOOM) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the programme.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end of this programme. Therefore, if you do not already hold a grade 4/C in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional Skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent).
