About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting for a caring and committed EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a small, friendly village primary school. This is a temporary, full-time position starting in March on an ongoing basis, offering a wonderful opportunity to become part of a close-knit and supportive school community.

The Early Years setting provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. We are looking for someone who will work closely with the class teacher to support children at the very start of their educational journey, helping them to develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

In this village school, relationships are at the heart of everything they do. You will play an important role in building positive connections with children, families, and colleagues, contributing to the warm and welcoming ethos of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS provision

  • Work with small groups and individual children to support early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills

  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and structured activities

  • Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development

  • Assist in creating and maintaining an inviting and well-organised indoor and outdoor learning environment

  • Observe children’s progress and contribute to assessments

  • Provide positive behaviour support in line with school policies

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents when appropriate

  • Promote safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils

Entry Requirements

Experience working in an Early Years setting

Relevant  Early Years qualification (Level 3)

Good understanding of the EYFS framework

A caring, patient, and positive approach

Ability to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team

Strong communication and organisational skills

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
