About the role

We are seeking a confident, caring, and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team for three days per week, from January until February half term. This short-term role is ideal for someone who enjoys making a meaningful impact in the classroom and feels comfortable taking the lead when needed.

As a HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across the school, working with different classes and age groups. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers, contribute to planning, and provide high-quality learning support. With your warm and professional approach, you will help maintain a positive atmosphere where every learner can achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading whole-class learning in the teacher’s absence

  • Supporting small groups and individual pupils to help them meet their learning goals

  • Working alongside teachers to plan and prepare engaging activities

  • Helping to create a supportive, well-organised, and positive learning environment

  • Providing feedback on pupils’ progress and contributing to assessments

  • Supporting behaviour expectations with a calm, consistent approach

  • Assisting with classroom setups, transitions, and general administration as needed

Entry Requirements

HLTA qualification or equivalent experience

Confident in leading whole-class learning

Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills

A warm, approachable manner and a commitment to helping pupils succeed

Understanding of safeguarding and a willingness to follow school procedures
