About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Primary French Teacher to join a lovely rural primary school on a part time basis, starting in September. This temporary role involves teaching French to Key Stage 2 pupils on a Thursday afternoon, helping children develop confidence and enthusiasm for language learning in a positive and engaging environment.

You will deliver two 45-minute French lessons each week:

  • 1:00pm to 1:45pm: Year 3/4
  • 1:45pm to 2:30pm: Year 5/6

The remaining time, 2:30pm to 3:30pm, is allocated for planning and marking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging French lessons for KS2 pupils

  • Teach basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in French

  • Create enjoyable and interactive learning experiences

  • Adapt lessons to suit different ages and abilities within KS2

  • Prepare lesson resources and activities (school uses Keswick Language Hub)

  • Mark work and provide feedback to support pupil progress

  • Encourage pupil confidence and participation in language learning

  • Work collaboratively with school staff and leadership

  • Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

Entry Requirements

Experience teaching French to primary-aged children or relevant language teaching experience

Good knowledge and understanding of the French language

Ability to deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons

Strong communication and classroom management skills

Organised and able to plan effectively for mixed KS2 age groups

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable but not essential for experienced instructors/tutors

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
