About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teacher of English to join a friendly and supportive school community in a temporary, full-time role starting as soon as possible and continuing through to July 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a collaborative department that is passionate about inspiring a love of language, reading, and writing in young people.

In this role, you will teach English up to Key Stage 4, helping students build confidence in their communication skills and reach their full potential. You’ll work closely with a welcoming team of colleagues, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons up to KS4 in line with the national curriculum

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback

  • Differentiate lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs

  • Work collaboratively with the English department to share resources and best practice

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and the wider school team

  • Contribute to departmental meetings, planning sessions, and school events

  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote the school’s values at all times

Your future career with us

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

Experience teaching English at secondary level up to KS4

Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the national curriculum

Excellent communication and organisational skills

A positive, patient, and supportive approach to behaviour and wellbeing

Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all students
