System People Education are the fastest growing education recruitment and teaching supply agency who have been finding work for local Teachers and TA’s since June 2012. We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

About the role
We are excited to invite applications for a Year Group Manager / Head of Year to join a friendly school community in a full-time, non-teaching role, playing a key part in supporting students’ attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing.
In this role, you will also take on the responsibilities of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer, working closely with senior leaders and the safeguarding team to ensure the highest standards of care and protection for all students. You will build strong relationships with students, families, and staff, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture where every young person is encouraged to thrive.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and support a year group, promoting positive behaviour, good attendance, and strong engagement with learning

Monitor and follow up on attendance and punctuality, working closely with families and external agencies where needed

Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, promoting wellbeing and emotional resilience

Support and contribute to safeguarding processes as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer

Liaise with teachers, support staff, and senior leaders to ensure a joined-up approach to student support

Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and action plans

Lead or support meetings with parents and carers to address concerns and celebrate progress

Promote the school’s values and uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience working with children or young people in an educational or pastoral setting
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection processes (or willingness to undertake training)
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Good organisational and record-keeping abilities
A calm, supportive, and positive approach to behaviour and wellbeing
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team
Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all students
