About the role

Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs? Workington Academy would like an apprentice to join their dedicated and hard-working team to support the inclusion of pupils with additional needs. This is a diverse and interesting role with the opportunity for additional training to meet pupil’s individual needs. The successful candidate will work with key pupils right across the curriculum from year 7 to Year 11.

We are looking for someone over the age of 18 with grade C/4 or above in maths and English. If you have excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to make a difference to young people’s lives you could be the addition to our team that we are looking for!

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils in whole class situations

  • Supporting the class teacher to differentiate pupils work

  • Demonstrating professionalism and being a positive role model

  • Keeping detailed records on pupil progress

  • Supporting pupils in small groups and on 1:1 basis

  • Supporting pupils to arrive at their lessons on time and prepared.

  • Supporting pupils over break and lunch time.

Your future career with us

Workington Academy have previously supported apprentices and may look to employ upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. You may also have the opportunity to go onto the Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have achieved a GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English by the end this program, therefore if you do not already hold a grade 4 in these subjects, you will be required to carry out a short Maths and English Assessment to see if we are able to offer you Functional skills support to reach a Level 2 (grade C/4 equivalent) by the end of the program.
