About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a busy and welcoming primary school, working within its Key Stage 1 provision for children with additional needs. This is a temporary, part time position, 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting in September on a long-term basis.
The successful candidate will work as part of a 2:1 support team, helping pupils with additional needs to access learning, develop communication and social skills, and achieve their individual targets. You will play an important role in providing consistent, structured support within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide support as part of a 2:1 team within the KS1 SEND provision

Assist pupils with additional needs to access learning activities and classroom routines

Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation

Implement strategies and interventions identified by the class teacher and SENDCo

Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs

Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning

Work closely with teachers, support staff and external professionals where appropriate

Monitor and record observations of pupil progress and wellbeing

Promote positive behaviour and inclusion throughout the school day

Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting
Understanding of additional learning, communication and behavioural needs
A patient, caring and adaptable approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience supporting pupils in KS1 is desirable
Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
