We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

About the role
We’re looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Cumbria on a supply basis. This role will run for at least one term and will involve working within the school’s Specialist Resourced Provision, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping pupils to access learning, develop their communication skills, and build confidence in a nurturing environment. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working closely with children and is passionate about making a difference in their education and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting pupils with ASD and SLCN to engage in classroom activities and reach their learning goals

Assisting the teacher in delivering planned lessons and tailored interventions

Encouraging positive communication, social interaction, and independence

Helping to create a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment

Providing one-to-one or small group support where needed

Recording progress and sharing feedback with the teacher and wider team
Entry Requirements
Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly ASD and/or SLCN
A kind, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
