About the role
We’re looking for a supportive and patient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Workington on a supply basis. This full-time role involves working closely with pupils who have additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and feel settled in the school environment.
You’ll be part of a caring team who work together to provide the structure, encouragement, and consistency that pupils need to succeed. The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships and offer calm, reliable support throughout the day.
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND

Assisting the class teacher with learning activities and interventions

Helping pupils follow routines and engage in classroom tasks

Encouraging communication, positive behaviour, and independence

Supporting emotional wellbeing and regulation

Working closely with teachers and the wider team to deliver consistent support
Entry Requirements
Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Relevant TA qualifications
