About the role
We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a popular and well-regarded Nursery & Infant School. This is a part-time, temporary position, Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:05pm, starting in September on a long-term temporary basis.
Working within a Year 1 classroom, you will provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and make progress both academically and socially. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team to ensure pupils receive the encouragement and consistency they need to thrive.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and enjoys supporting young children during the early stages of their school journey.
Key Responsibilities

Provide support to pupils with SEND within the Year 1 classroom

Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and development

Implement strategies and interventions identified by the class teacher and SENDCo

Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs

Support communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing

Encourage independence and positive engagement in classroom activities

Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff

Help maintain a positive, inclusive and well organised learning environment

Promote positive behaviour and support pupils with classroom routines

Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting
Understanding of a range of additional learning, communication and behavioural needs
Experience supporting children in EYFS or Key Stage 1 is desirable
A patient, caring and adaptable approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
