About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil in a small community primary school on a temporary, part-time basis, starting in September.
The working pattern for this role is:
- Tuesday: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
- Wednesday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
- Thursday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
- Friday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
This is a rewarding opportunity to become part of a close-knit school community where every child is known and valued. Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team, you will provide consistent, personalised support to help a Year 5 pupil access learning, develop confidence and independence, and participate fully in school life.
We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and committed to helping children with additional needs reach their full potential while contributing positively to the caring and inclusive ethos of the school.
Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil throughout the school day

Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities

Implement strategies and interventions identified by the class teacher and SENDCo

Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs

Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning

Support the pupil's social, emotional and behavioural development

Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

Monitor progress and share observations with teaching staff

Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents where appropriate

Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting
Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with children
A calm, patient and nurturing approach
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification
Understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support pupils with additional needs
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
