About the role

We are seeking a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school community on a temporary, part-time basis, Monday to Friday, 12:30pm to 3:30pm, starting in September and continuing until February half term.

This varied role will begin with supervising pupils during the lunchtime period, helping to ensure a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for all children. Following lunch duty, you will provide classroom support in either a Year 2 or Year 6 class, working closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning and development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children of different ages and who can build positive relationships, encourage confidence, and contribute to a calm and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise pupils during lunchtime, promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing

  • Support the class teacher in either Year 2 or Year 6 with classroom activities and learning tasks

  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning

  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom materials

  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive and well-organised classroom environment

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development

  • Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil engagement and progress

  • Follow school safeguarding procedures and behaviour policies at all times

Entry Requirements

Experience working with children in a school or similar setting

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils across different age groups

Good communication and teamwork skills

A patient, reliable and encouraging approach

Ability to support learning and promote positive behaviour

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
