About the role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Teacher of English to join a popular and well-regarded secondary school on a temporary, full-time basis, starting after Easter and continuing until the end of the academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity to teach within a supportive and well-established English department where high expectations and a positive learning culture help pupils achieve their best. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons that encourage students to develop their reading, writing and analytical skills across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
The role would suit a teacher who is organised, adaptable and passionate about helping young people build confidence in their communication and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils

Prepare learning materials in line with the department’s schemes of work

Mark and assess pupil work, providing clear and constructive feedback

Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching to support different learning needs

Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment

Encourage pupils to develop strong reading, writing and discussion skills

Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department

Follow school policies relating to behaviour, safeguarding and wellbeing
Entry Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Strong subject knowledge and ability to inspire pupils
Effective classroom management skills
Good organisational and communication skills
Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative department
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
