About the role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and committed Teacher of Maths to join a popular and well-regarded secondary school on a temporary, part-time basis, starting as soon as possible and potentially continuing through the summer term.

This role involves teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Maths, delivering well-structured lessons and supporting pupils to build confidence and understanding in the subject. The position includes planning and marking, and the successful candidate may also be asked to provide occasional general cover where required.

The school benefits from a supportive staff team and a positive learning environment where high expectations and strong relationships help pupils succeed. This role would suit a teacher who enjoys helping students develop their mathematical skills and who can quickly become part of an established department.

The school operates a two-week timetable, with working days arranged as follows (w/c 16.03.26 is Week 1):

Week 1: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Week 2: Monday to Thursday

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils

  • Prepare appropriate learning resources and activities

  • Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support pupil progress

  • Monitor and assess pupil understanding and attainment

  • Maintain a positive and purposeful classroom environment

  • Follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies

  • Provide occasional general cover where required

  • Work collaboratively with the Maths department and wider staff team

Entry Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

Experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

Strong subject knowledge and ability to explain concepts clearly

Effective classroom management skills

Good organisational and communication skills

Ability to adapt to an established scheme of work

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
