About the role

We are supporting  a small, friendly rural primary school at the heart of its local community, and we are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a temporary, full-time basis until the end of the academic year, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm with cover until 5.30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in their after school club.

This varied role involves supporting teaching and learning during the school day, as well as helping to run our after school provision. You will work closely with teachers and pupils across the school, helping to create a positive, nurturing environment where children feel supported and encouraged to do their best.

We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team. The successful candidate will be confident supporting pupils with a range of needs, and happy to contribute to both classroom learning and the more relaxed, engaging activities offered in after school club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom

  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

  • Provide additional support for pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND

  • Assist in preparing classroom resources and activities

  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff

  • Supervise pupils during break or lunchtime if required

  • Help deliver engaging activities during after school club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (3.30pm to 5.30pm)

  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment throughout the school day and after school provision

Entry Requirements

Experience working with primary-aged children

A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Good communication and teamwork skills

Understanding of supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEND

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3) or equivalent

Willingness to support after school provision until 5:30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
