System People Education are the fastest growing education recruitment and teaching supply agency who have been finding work for local Teachers and TA’s since June 2012. We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

About the role
We’re looking for a warm, enthusiastic Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly early years team from January to July. In this role, you’ll help create a nurturing, engaging, and secure environment where our youngest learners can thrive. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning, encourage their independence, and celebrate their unique personalities and interests.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with young children, enjoys being hands-on, and is eager to contribute to a positive and caring nursery setting. Every day will bring something new, and you’ll play an important part in helping children learn, grow, and feel confident in their early learning journey.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning activities

Helping to create a warm, inclusive, and safe environment for all children

Assisting with small-group and one-to-one activities to promote learning and development

Encouraging children’s social skills, communication, and independence

Supervising indoor and outdoor play, ensuring children’s safety at all times

Assisting with setting up, tidying away, and maintaining classroom resources

Observing children’s progress and sharing insights with the teaching team

Helping with daily routines, including snack time, outdoor time, and transitions
Entry Requirements
Experience working with young children (nursery or early years setting preferred)
A warm, patient, and caring approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Relevant childcare or early years qualification
