System People Education are the fastest growing education recruitment and teaching supply agency who have been finding work for local Teachers and TA’s since June 2012. We were the first teaching agency with offices in Cumbria and have grown organically, mainly from kind referrals from local teachers who have found work through us. We ‘meet’ with you to plan in an individual way and our experienced Education team will use this information to offer work – we all have local knowledge and value our relationships with candidates and schools.

We help hundreds of Education professionals in Cumbria find suitable work in many schools which includes day to day and long-term opportunities and we are always looking for new candidates to join our register to meet the ever-growing need for high quality supply cover.

About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a mixed Year 2/3 class on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible until the end of the academic year.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a supportive school team and play a key role in helping pupils thrive during an important stage of their learning. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a positive, well-structured classroom environment where children feel confident, motivated and ready to succeed.

We are looking for someone who is patient, proactive and able to build strong relationships with pupils, offering both academic and pastoral support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum

  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

  • Provide targeted support in literacy and numeracy

  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources

  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development

  • Encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies

  • Help monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher

  • Supervise pupils during activities and transitions as required

  • Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times

Entry Requirements

Experience working in a primary school setting

Understanding of Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 curriculum expectations

Ability to support learning across a range of subjects

Good communication and teamwork skills

A calm, encouraging and reliable approach

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
