About the role
We are pleased to be recruiting for a dedicated Year 4 Teaching Assistant to join a busy and well-established primary school on a temporary, part-time basis, starting after Easter. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 12:00 noon (with a 15-minute break), and offers a great opportunity to support pupils during key morning learning sessions.
Working within a large and vibrant school environment, you will support the Year 4 class, helping to create a positive and productive start to each day. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and is confident supporting pupils to stay engaged and make progress in their learning.
You will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to ensure pupils are supported both academically and emotionally, contributing to a well-managed and inclusive classroom.
Key Responsibilities

Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and morning learning activities

Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce key skills

Provide targeted support in literacy and numeracy

Help maintain a focused, positive and well-organised classroom environment

Assist with preparing learning resources and materials

Support pupils’ social and emotional development

Encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies

Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil engagement and progress

Follow safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing at all times
Entry Requirements
Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in KS2
Good understanding of classroom routines and learning support strategies
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A patient, reliable and proactive approach
Ability to support a range of learning needs
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
