About the role
We are a supporting a small, welcoming village primary school at the heart of its community, who are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support their mixed Year 5/6 class on a temporary basis for the Summer Term. Monday to Fridays, 8.45am to 3.15pm with an hour for lunch.
This role includes working closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing tailored support to help them access learning, build confidence, and feel fully included in school life. You will play an important role in creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Working alongside the class teacher and wider staff team, you will support learning across the curriculum, deliver targeted support, and help adapt activities to meet individual needs. We are looking for someone who is patient, understanding, and committed to inclusive education, and who enjoys being part of a close-knit school community.
Key Responsibilities

Support teaching and learning within a mixed Year 5/6 classroom

Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, both in class and through small group work

Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs

Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

Assist in preparing and organising classroom resources and activities

Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional wellbeing

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement support strategies

Supervise pupils during break or lunchtime if required

Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Entry Requirements
Experience working with primary-aged children, ideally in KS2
Experience supporting pupils with SEND
A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Good communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of inclusive practice and supporting a range of learning needs
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
