Apprentices proudly wearing yellow with #HelloYellow

We are saying #HelloYellow with Young Minds Charity!

This year our apprentices are supporting Young Minds by saying #HelloYellow this World Mental Health Day!

Let’s brighten up this October 10th by saying #helloyellow to show young people that how they feel matters! We are supporting Young Minds on their mission to create a future where all young people get the mental health support that they need.

“Our vision is clear: we want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health.”

Our apprentices today are looking sunny with their yellow clothes, learning together how to support children in the classroom. We used crafts to draw links between supporting a child’s development in a number of ways, discussing how they could be adapted to their topic in the classroom.

Our Early Years Tutor, Natalie Sisson, took her learners through several resources to start the conversation about mental health support in the classroom.

“I feel strongly about supporting mental health, both for children and all educators. As such, I often discuss the important of mental health and wellbeing with my learners and signpost to resources such as Young Minds.

This cause is something I wanted to bring to my EYP class – having #HelloYellow to springboard this conversation is fantastic. We spent today using resources from Young Minds to encourage the learners to think about how they can support young people’s mental health in their day-to-day classroom activities.”

Using the resources from Young Minds, the learners utilised the ‘well-being wheel’ and made yellow paper chains as they talked through how they would support young people in the classroom. This information was invaluable to their learning and gave them a lot to think about.
